Friday @ the Henry - Summer Celebration

Tonight, the best party in town will be at the Henry Art Gallery - celebrating summer, 80 Free days, collage madness, and whatever else you want to celebrate. Music, Food, Drink, and Revelry is expected!

Take this chance explore "Viewfinder," the Henry's new photography exhibition. I had the great fortune to view this show last week, and found it to be visually stimulating and thought provoking. Don't think from the title that the show will appeal only to photography enthusiasts. This show, rather, is an exploration of how photography - both technical practices and conceptual ideas - has influenced contemporary art and the way we perceive and think about our world. The show includes works in photography, video, installation, and sculpture.

I'll have more on this show very soon - after seeing "Viewfinder" and "Up and Now," the current show at the PCNW, in the same day, I've had some heavy questions regarding photography and contemporary art rolling around in my head.

Best Deal in Town

The Henry is offering, via email and their Hankblog, a printable invitation that will give you FREE admission to tonight's celebration. Find it here.

Although if you have the $12, you could always DONATE it to the Henry and support one of Seattle's finest contemporary art venues. It's a lot less than what you will be paying for the newest Harry Potter book, which goes on sale tonight at midnight as if you didn't know.
