Friday in Belltown

If you're going to be in the Belltown neighborhood this Friday, be sure to stop by Viveza and McLeod Residence.

Viveza Gallery will be having an opening for “Viveza’s 2007 Art Graduate Invitational” from 6-10 pm. Viveza is located at 2604 Western Ave, Seattle, WA 98121.

“In spring 2007, Viveza selected some of the most promising artists from the Cornish College of the Arts B.F.A. exhibition and the University of Washington M.F.A. exhibition for an eclectic showing of painting, mixed media, video and sculptural works; continuing a Viveza tradition of connecting Seattle art lovers with the their city's most exciting new talent. This invitational brings together artists from two of the northwest's most celebrated art schools to reveal the myriad facets of the ever-burgeoning Seattle art scene.

Whether deconstructing the archetypal forms that make up the urban mythology of the comic book, like the paintings of Carl Faulkner, or putting a sardonic finish on the Victorian notions of beauty and femininity that linger to this day, like the oil, collage and video works of Redd Walitzki, each participating artist comments on the memes and aesthetics of our day in their own unique voice.”
As long as you’re in Belltown on Friday, head over to McLeod Residence for the opening of “Interactivity,” an exhibit that explores the convergence of art and technology. The entire gallery will be filled with pieces that viewers can play and interact with. Find a full explanation here.

"Interactivity" features work by The Barbarian Group, Maggie Orth, Joel S. Kollin and Felix Livni. The exhibits will be on display until September 1.

McLeod Residence is located at 2209 2nd Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121.
